Spring Fun

This skirt is just so cute! I wish that I had gotten some better shots but based on how much Maisie adores it (it's covered in butterflies and flowers, what's not to love?!) I'll be able to get more soon! She wore it with a comfy pink shirt and one of her new butterfly hair clips and was in heaven all day!!
This is the best picture I have of the cute patterns on the skirt:

Fun DIY Behavior Chart

Sometimes my perfect (cough, cough) children get a little out of hand and need a reminder on how humans (aka NOT spider monkeys) should probably behave in order to not have their parents blow a gasket. I find that using this chart helps them remember. It was so easy to make! I used an old whiteboard that we had in the playroom and Sharpie Oil-Based Paint Markers. I have to admit that I am not completely in love with the design but I really can't complain because in half an hour it was ready to go! I let each kid pick a bird magnet (purchased at The Container Store) and explained  the "rules." Your bird starts in the middle (on the fifth heart from the bottom) and goes up or down depending on behavior. When you get to the top heart, you get to pick a reward but if your bird gets to the bottom heart you have to give us something you REALLY, REALLY love for as many days as you are old. We have been doing it for many, many months now and the rewards have varied (we usually give them a few choices and are open to reasonable suggestions) but we have only had to take something away ONCE (and the child in question chose one of their most precious loveys to go without... very sad). The kids love the chart and feel really good when their bird goes up and understand when it goes down. It gives them a real tangible feeling of ownership over their actions AND it was easy to make. Win-win if you want my opinion!!

Little Cupcake

Maisie has so many cute skirts but she doesn't wear them much because they end up looking too busy with her tights or shirts. The tights aren't much of a problem now that it's Spring but I still found myself overlooking the pretty patterned skirts and going with something simpler on the bottom. What a shame! So, I headed to the mall and bought a bunch of blank shirts and now you can expect to see Maisie in all her skirty glory in the days to come!!

Sushi Love

The last time Maisie wore this sushi shirt we paired it with black and white striped tights and orange shoes. I am loving it with this cool two-tiered striped skirt and her amazing new pink shoes. I have been looking for summer shoes that Maisie could wear in (or near) the water for a while because she's currently in that weird foot growth place where Crocs are either too small or too big... so annoying. I found these at Nordstrom this weekend and have become obsessed... they come in so many colors and have great support. Maisie really wanted pink shoes and she got her wish! I got some for the boys too (look for them in future posts)!! Maisie was just happy that she didn't have to put on socks!
Oh, and that she got to wear her new butterfly hair clip:

Sweet Little Hoot

Maisie has worn a nearly exact replica of this outfit for this blog but I couldn't resist posting these pictures. I know they're a little sunny but the expression on her face is just too cute to ignore!! What a sweet pea. This is probably the last time she'll wear these tights before fall and we are going to miss them... they are just so funky and fun! I promise that the next time I post a picture of Maisie in this shirt it will be paired with something different (maybe a tutu?!). Enjoy the sun!!

He Said, She Said

Hand-me-downs are one of the perks of having a girl AFTER two boys. Maisie wears so many clothes that I used to love on the boys and this Marshmallow Man shirt is no exception. How cute is it with her brand new (and only four dollars!) tutu?
All these "boy" clothes got me thinking, what if Maisie had been born first? Would I have had as many options? Oliver in a tutu? Greyson in tights? Hmmm... not so much. It might have been more of a challenge but I'm sure I would've come up with something:
Seriously, could Greyson be any cuter? He was so excited to put these little pedal pushers on... this kid LOVES pink. Oliver is at school but something tells me he wouldn't want to wear anything of his sister's. I did find some old (and poorly lit... sorry!) pictures of him in clothes I know Maisie will wear one day. I love these skinny cords and don't even get me started on that awesome Darth Vader sweatshirt!!

Mini Photographer

Maisie was so excited when she found this little camera in her bumblebee purse because she couldn't wait to take my picture for "her blog." I'm sure someday her's will put me to shame!! But until then, you'll have to make do with sweet pictures like these:
I love the print on this shirt and can't wait to do something like it on a pillow or tote bag (stay tuned for a tutorial!). Have a great Monday!!

More Mending...

Greyson's monster patch pants have garnered quite a bit of attention in our little community. So much so that I've been mending pants left and right!! Here is a pair of pants that was given to me recently:
As you can see, these pants have multiple spots that need attention. Here's what the finished product looked like:
I didn't take any pictures during the process but the monster I made followed the same steps as the one in my patch tutorial. The hole in these pants was vertical and really narrow so I had to make it a little bigger for the monster mouth. For the other side, I used Heat'n Bond to make the patches. I made a two-toned star because having it all orange was a little much (and I happen to have gray corduroy that matches the pants). The little star covered a really small hole and looked adorable. Oliver couldn't resist giving them a test run (he was quite sad that they weren't for him!). Sadly, this was the best picture from the bunch!!

Springy Delight

I love this time of year! The flowers are blooming, it's warm but not too hot, and the clothes, oh how I love the clothes! This flower dress is just so cute and when Maisie wanted to pair it with her bright green sweater I couldn't help but be proud of her natural eye for fashion (no comment on the reddish orange flower!).

Pretty in Print

This little dress is so sweet! The neckline, the sleeves, the pattern... where do I begin? As darling as it is, when Maisie put it on this morning it became clear that she needed to wear something longer than a pair of shorts underneath. When did my baby girl get so big?! Not to worry, we just threw on a pair of capris (not to mention the sunglasses) and she was ready to work her magic for the camera!!

Woodland Love

I love this little woodland creature shirt! It's perfect with a denim skirt, cute tights and cozy boots. Not to mention how happy it makes Maisie!! Her smile just kept getting bigger,
and bigger!
But the icing on the cake was finding a purple flower just like the one in her hair. Pure bliss.
